I Could Have ... But Instead

Time for an oil change and 60 thousand K service so I dropped the Star off at the Performance Shed today. I could have taken this route ... (31.2 km)

But instead, I took this route. Gotta love "The long way 'round." (145 km)

PS: I am not in love with Google Maps!!!

  1. Gotta love the long wat around! I hear ya on google maps, I was attempting to use it the other day and it was an utter fail! Then I couldn't get it to shut off and it was trying to redirect me to the the destination it totally missed. It was most annoying through the Sena a.

    1. Dar, new Google Maps seems to have it's own agenda ... I'm not happy not being the boss!

  2. I hear ya about Google Maps. Very hard to use. Mapquest is actually better imo.

    1. Not only was it tedious to use, when I logged on today the route was gone and all that was left was a vague, general map! MapQuest, here I come.

  3. Karen:

During the 145 km ride for service, all I would be thinking about is the 31.2 km walk back home, and begging you to walk a bit slower

    1. Bob 31 k was even too far for me to walk carrying all my gear in temps of near 30 C.

  4. Great choice on taking the long way, especially if you'll be without the bike for a few days with the service.

    1. Even better choice since it has been pouring rain all day today.

  5. Always a good day when "the long way" is even a choice.

    1. The scenic view is always best ... too bad the route disappeared when I embedded the Google map! (Bringing it home today though was another story, temps barely made it into double digits with rain - yuck, but ready to go again Monday - keep posted.)

  6. Nice ride!

Google Maps has its moments to be sure. But nothing makes me curse like Microsoft anything.

Much maligned Apple maps is not too bad. Though Siri has moments of maddening wrong headedness that get me chewing her out.

"Siri, take me to the corner of Fairmount and Hutchison"

"Sorry David, I can't find Paremont and Hurchison streets in Montreal"

Later... After several attempts over the Sena...

"OK, getting directions to Philmont and Hutterson streets in Naperville Illinois"
